Lovingly decorated floats and around 200 horses
accompany the magnificent church procession to St. Valentin.
Every year,
thousands of visitors look forward to this day.
At 6.30 a.m. on Sunday,
cannon shots reintroduce the old religious custom of Georgi ride in
Ruhpolding.
March to the blessing of the horses is at 10 a.m. - return at
approx. 11:30 a.m.
The origins of the "Irgn Ride", as it was called earlier,
go back to the 16th century,
Farmers and other horse owners asked for the
divine blessing for their horses.
For this old votive ride, around 180 horses
and their owners from Ruhpolding and the surrounding area are expected again
this year. Above all, cold-blooded horses and Haflingers, but also Pinzgauer and
riding horses will take part in the ride. More than 10 lovingly decorated floats
will accompany the magnificent church procession to St. Valentin.
The carved
figure of St. George from the parish church in Ruhpolding is also
carried.
The parish priest in Ruhpolding celebrates the mass in St. Valentin
at 10.30 am, at which horse
owners, riding clubs and farmers ask "Saint George for Honor"
for the blessing of their patron saint. Then riders and animals move
back to the center of town, where the train slowly
dissolves.

After the ride, stroll in the
car-free Ruhpolding from around 12 noon!
The entire village center of
Ruhpolding is transformed on the initiative of
Advertising community
Ruhpolding e.V. to a single fairground.
The place is closed to traffic until
8.30 p.m. The shops are open until 5 p.m.
Music groups play in many places,
sometimes modern, sometimes with a Bavarian touch -
but in any case "proper". A lot of attractions await visitors
to the Georgitages. "Snacks" and "delicacies" for the hungry; varied
music performances for the music lover!
