Samerberg high valley region
The high plateau on the
Samerberg
a Chiemgau hiking paradise
The municipality extends south of the motorway, southeast of the Chiemsee on a high plateau over a length of 7 km at an altitude between 600 and 750 m. A landscape like in a picture book, that is the Samerberg in summer. Lush green meadows and fields, wooded mountain slopes with shade and swimming pools in Törwang, Grainbach and Rossholzen. Families in particular enjoy the diversity of the landscape in summer. People like to take a chairlift and gondola lift up to the Hochries, probably the most beautiful panoramic and hiking mountain in the Rosenheimer Land.
There are easy and contemplative tours on the
Samerberg. But there are also many tours on forest roads and forest paths for
the athlete, for the trained or for all those who want to combine the pleasant
and sporty with the enjoyment of the landscape. The managed alpine pastures, but
also the farms in the high valley, then load
to the exertion for a pleasant
retreat.
Here are some nice hiking suggestions!
Various hikes from the Lederstube car park
(in 83112 Frasdorf) at the foot of the Samerberg. An easier family hike via the
Frasdorfer Hütte (currently closed) and on to the Hofalm at 1000 m in approx. 1
hour walking time. The forest road is also suitable for small children (with
prams), mountain bikers and hikers with limited mobility. However, there are
some steeper climbs. It is surrounded by beautiful alpine pastures with a
wonderful view of the rocks of the Kampenwand. The kitchen offers good snacks
and fresh Hofalm milk. Homemade cakes and lard baked goods are the special
delicacies. For the children there are mountain go-karts for curious Haflingers
to stroke.
Or continue on the way to the Hochries summit (1569 m), to the
Laubenstein via the Laubenstein Almen.
If you want to go even higher, you can
reach the alpine pastures (1290 m) a little below the Laubenstein summit
(approx. 15 minutes) (from the Frasdorfer Hütte in approx. 45 minutes). Soft
drinks are offered on the penultimate hut. Those who make the effort will be
rewarded with a wonderful view of Frasdorf, Aschau, the Chiemgau and the
Chiemsee. Or further over the Riesenhütte (closed) and the Riesenberg to the
Hochriesgipfel.
Another Hofalm tour from Hohenaschau - Hofalm -
Laubenstein
Hofalm opening times: April, May and October only Saturday +
Sunday, June to September daily except Thursdays
Easy family hike to the Duffnerwaldalmen under the Heuberg. The start is the highest point on the Samerberg, the Gasthof Duftbräu. You can either go east from the Duftbräu via the beer adventure trail for about 1 hour or via the Schweibern hiking car park a few hundred meters west below the Duftbräu. From here it's about 45 minutes to the Duffnerwald Almen. If that's not enough, you can walk up to the Heuberg for about 1 hour from here. From the Heuberg you have a wonderful view of the Inn Valley.
Further family hikes from the Gammern hiking car park approx.
1/2 hour to the managed Wagner Alm
or from the hiking car park Spatenau
approx. 3/4 hours to the Doaglam
The Hochriesbahn, the mountain railway in Rosenheimer Land in Grainbach
From the parking lot ofthe Hochriesbahn, a chairlift first takes you to the middle station (on foot it would be about 30 minutes on foot). From the middle station there are easy hikes to the Käsalm or to the Moseralm in Moserboden. Or continue with the Hochriesbahn to the summit. From here there is of course a beautiful hiking trail to the Hochries summit, to the Hochrieshaus. The Hochries offers everything you could wish for: peace and relaxation, clean air and a panoramic view of overwhelming beauty of the central Alps, the Chiemgauer and Berchtesgaden mountains, to the Großglockner and Großvenediger. In the north the view extends over the Rosenheimer Land, the Inn, Simsee and the Chiemsee with the islands. Restaurants in the valley, in the middle and on top of the mountain make it possible that hardly any wishes of hiking and nature lovers remain unfulfilled.
A detailed description of a hike from the Hochries down to
Grainbach (Hochriesbahn valley station) and also for other hikes is available
from reception.

Farmer's

a golf club, but a wooden shoe attached to a broomstick. The ball is also
significantly different. As in real golf the ball with as much as possible

few blows into the hole (embedded bucket).

The
Samerberger felts
A gem is the Samerberger felts, the moor area at
the deepest point of the Samerberger high valley basin. The Samerberger Tal is a
product of the Ice Ages and the felts a relic of the last Ice Age and today a
flower paradise with a rarity.
The Samerberger Filze nature trail is a
circular route that leads through particularly interesting and valuable areas of
the felt. Information boards point out special features and things worth
knowing. It begins at the teaching apiary car park (sign on the district road
between Törwang and Esbaum), is approx. 3 km long and can be easily covered in
an hour's walk. Because of some wet spots, waterproof footwear is
recommended.
"The splendor of flowers in the littered meadows changes its
color several times over the course of the year from spring to autumn and is a
feast for the eyes for visitors every time."
