Hikes on the Hochries

From the valley station to the middle station (Ebenwaldalm)

The easiest way to get from Grainbach to the plateau of the Ebenwaldalm is, of course, with the single chairlift of the Hochriesbahn. The middle station, on the Almgrund Ebenwald, can also be reached on foot in half an hour via a paved road (closed to motor vehicles).

Around the middle station at an altitude of 910 m there are flat hiking trails that lead to green mountain meadows, to the Schwarzsee and to the partially managed alpine pastures (Käseralm and Moserboden). Do you want to float silently with wonderful views of the valley after your tour? Then enjoy the ride on the Hochriesbahn-Sessellift.

From the middle station (Ebenwaldalm) to the Hochries summit

A trip to the summit of the Hochries (1569 m) is worth it!
The ride on the Hochrieskabinenbahn is the most convenient and fastest way to the summit. During the pleasant journey, you can enjoy overwhelming views. From the summit station you can reach the Hochries summit with Hochries hut and summit cross in 15 minutes.
The ascent is also possible on foot (around 750 vertical meters), but fitness and endurance are necessary.
Main career opportunities are

Walking, hiking and mountaineering on the Hochries

over Moserboden and over the Seitenalmen or
via Ebersberger-Alm and the giant plateau

to the Hochries summit.
