Experience the Chiemgau from above, this magnificent landscape with its lakes, colorful villages, forests, meadows and rivers. After a short ascent with the Hochplattenbahn, the visitor has this colorful diversity at his feet. In addition, the view of the magical mountains of the Chiemgau Alps and across to the Hohe Tauern. An unforgettable experience. Hikers get their money's worth here. There are extremely worthwhile destinations on well-marked paths from the mountain station, such as: the high-altitude circular hiking trail around the "small and large Staffen" or the new Staffen mountain forest adventure trail. A fantastic hiking offer for families. Friedenrath, Hochplatte, Kampenwand and many idyllic alpine pastures. Crossings and descents to other valley locations allow further interesting tour combinations.
Free parking at the valley station.
On December 25, 2010, the Hochplattenbahn started operating again after extensive modernization work. The mountain and valley stations have been completely rebuilt, a new rope has been installed and new chairs have been installed, which are equipped with both a holder for transporting sleds and a heat-insulating thermal pad. Also new is the specially prepared high-altitude winter hiking trail around the Staffn, which, with a length of approx. 3.5 km, is also easy to manage for families with children or seniors.
