Events....
The most famous Advent market takes place every year in
front of the cathedral and the residence. Five weeks before Christmas, the
market opens its doors in front of the breathtaking backdrop of the cathedral.
This world-famous Salzburg Christmas Market promises to be a pleasure for all
senses. Here and there, you will discover various gifts, specialties from
Salzburg, sweets and Christmas decorations. In specially designed wooden market
stands the artisans, sugar bakers and other traders traditionally offer their
goods. Gingerbread hearts, nativity figures, toys and warm sweaters lure to
purchase!
The cheerful hustle and bustle of Salzburg's Christmas
market creates a warm feeling of warmth and awakens long-forgotten childhood
memories. Here everyone can find something - hand-knitted stockings from
Salzburg wool wool, bees wax candles, wooden children's toys or fine mouth-blown
glass. After the cozy strolling through the market rows, a mug of mulled wine or
alcohol-free hotdog hands warm the cold hands. The scent of burnt almonds, of
hot chestnuts and fresh brioches flatters the nose. If you do not already want
to get rid of the appetite for Christmas sugar, try the baked oven potatoes or
roasted chestnuts. Also the Adventkranz get the Salzburg on the
Christkindlmarkt. In all sizes and shapes, simply decorated with candles and

but also in every business location. A cultural and artistic enrichment is the
Christkindlmarkt through the festive opening ceremonies at the Cathedral Square,
as well as the daily performances of Salzburg choirs, pastoral and cripple play
Salzburg schools, turmblaces and readings of Christmas stories in front of the
Domportal.

everything is on offer. A visit to the stallholders rounds off the family
outing. It goes without saying that an Advent market also includes traditional
handicrafts and Christmas decorations, and of course a handmade nativity scene
