The 14 lakes that form Lake See's natural preserve - the remains of ice-age waters north of the Chiemsee - are exactly the same.
Seeon was an ancient seat of the Celts and Romans, Seeon appears for the first time in 924 - with the founding of the Benedictine monastery Seeon, so that in 1994 Seeon was able to celebrate its 1000th anniversary.
In the monastery Seeon has already composed Mozart and after its
renovation in the year 1993 are now again a variety of cultural events
such as concerts, exhibitions and lectures.
Seeon and its districts are today a state-approved resort in the Chiemgau with approx. 1750 inhabitants and over 500 guest beds.
Kloster Seeon, former Benedictine monastery,
which celebrated its 1000th anniversary festival in 1994. Until the secularization of 1803, the Benedictines maintained a painting and writing school and the monastery was always a place of science and music.
Haydn and Mozart were guests. Today, it is the cultural and educational center of the district of Oberbayern, all year round in the restored rooms, exhibitions, lectures and concerts.

Monastery Seeon:
Three important former monastery church testimony from different centuries. A unique feature is the frescoes with Renaissance frescoes. A visit is worth the baroque tombstone of Abbot Honrat Kolb, as well as the gothic cloister and the gothic chapter hall.
Walburgiskirche and
cemetery:
The gothic church served as a nun church from the 11th to the 13th century and later as a parish church. The cemetery was a burial site of the ducal family of Leuchtenberg from the Russian Orthodox line. The Russian grave crosses are worth visiting. In the cemetery is also the Urnengrab of the alleged Tsarentochter Anastasia.
Giles Church:
located in the center of Seeon, gothic building with net vault. The wooden reliefs hanging in the chancel with depictions of Saint Florian and James were created in the workshop of the "masters of ravens".
Church of St. Mary:
On the peninsula (district of
Bräuhausen) between the village and Kloster Seeon lies the late-Gothic church.

The church
is a late-Gothic building dating from 1432. In 1651 it was baroque. The high
altar with the Madonna is the master
from
Rabenden.
