Float up the Predigtstuhl on Bad Reichenhall's local
mountain in a gondola. In the gondola you can enjoy the fantastic view and
listen to the stories of the cabin attendant.
For nine minutes you
will be transported to another time.
Ever since the railway was commissioned on July 1, 1928, it has brought passengers safely to the famous 1,614 m high Predigtstuhl. The Predigtstuhlbahn is the oldest large cabin cable car in the world that has been preserved in its original form and operates all year round. The passengers enjoy a real nostalgia ride, called the Grande Dame of the Alps. The machine operator at the mountain station ensures that the guests safely overcome the difference in altitude of 1150 m and a distance of 2.5 km by train.
The mountain restaurant with coffee terrace is located directly in the
mountain station.
According to the Bavarian Office for Monument Protection,
the Predigtstuhlbahn has been a technical monument since 2006.
