Tittmoning Castle
Tittmoning Castle was built in 1234 by Archbishop Eberhard II as a border fortification against Bavaria. Rebuilt into a hunting lodge at the beginning of the 17th century, it served as the summer residence of the Salzburg prince archbishops. In 1816 the castle came to Bavaria together with the Rupertiwinkel. Today it houses the home of the Rupertiwinkel in 25 historical rooms, with an extraordinarily rich collection of grave crosses, earthenware, exhibits from folklore and culture, handicrafts and ceramics. You can also visit the largest collection of shooting targets in Bavaria from 1600 to 1930.
The castle courtyard and the adjacent Ponlachgraben are also very nice for
hiking in winter. If the trip to the Middle Ages is enough for you, then take a
few steps down to the old town and take a leisurely stroll through town. Maybe
you will find something that will make this excursion unforgettable for you
